By NCAA rule, are college basketball teams allowed to have organized practices at this time of year?

It was reported here in Michigan that UM's new coach held a practice the same afternoon that he was hired.  I thought there was downtime after the end of the tourny when team were prohibited from having organized practices.

Although I would laugh tremendously if Bealine's first move was a violation, I can't believe that he would make that kind of mistake.

I know there's a window, I'm just not sure of the dates.

And Bealine is a notorious stickler for the rules.  I read an article a day or so ago in which he was talking about coaches that break the rules.  He doesn't agree with them, but that's there business.

Hopefully, Bealine proves that the Big 10 is much different than WVU...

which we all know is the case...

Let's go Bucks...

Hey Pojo...welcome.

I think eh's going to find out how the Big 10 is a very tough league.

What about Huggins going to WVU after only one year at KState???  Worked well for him.  I wonder if WVU is ready for the kind of players that Huggins will bring?  The total opposite of what they're used to.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't WVU hire him once before?  I know he's a WVU grad...but yeah...

I'm not surprised, and c'mon, are any of us surprised that Huggy-Bear ended up in WVU?

They are going in a completely different direction though, with Huggins.

Welcome to Buckeyes247!!

Thanks for the welcome Nate and the help getting started.

I'm like POJO, I can't believe any major college BBall coach would be stupid enough to unknowingly break that rule on his first day on the job.

On the other hand, if there is dead time between seasons one would think it would start after the team's season ends and continue until the official start of practice for all teams.

Want to look up the rules (and have some time to kill  ), from ncaa.org, the place for anything NCAA related:

It's so hard to go undefeated, only one major D-1A team has ever gone 14-0 in the history of the college football and win the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

And I also want to welcome you new posters!

Great to have some more input, especially during this somewhat  "down time" (between hoops and FOOTBALL seasons!)

I know this reply is a couple months later than when the thread started (I just signed up), but the day he held his presser he held the practice and said under the rules that was his last chance to show the team the drills he wanted them to work on over the summer.  Coach Beilein is a big stickler for the rules.  So anyways, that's the story of the practice.
