I saw the story on ESPN's OTL.
What a bunch of BULLSHIT!! He was loved, respected by almost everyone, I remember how he was worshiped on the ESPYs and other shows.
Screw him, he brought it on himself.....and it could have easily been done better! -------------------------------------
By Shannon J. Owens Orlando Sentinel Posted: Sunday, Sep. 19, 2010 LeBron hate grows, with no end in sight
ORLANDO, Fla. I'm convinced there is a good portion of professional athletes who love soap operas. Some of them even live in one.
LeBron James gave a stirring performance in ESPN's "The Decision" this past summer. Brett Favre became the Meryl Streep of sports performances with his three-year running series "The Retirement."
Yet, these Emmy-worthy performances made James a villain and Favre a hero according to a recent data survey called "Q scores."
Q scores essentially measure "likeability" according to the American public through extensive data surveys and research. There were 1,800 men and women of various racial backgrounds, broken down into percentages consistent with the latest census, who ranked 198 sports personalities from most liked to least liked earlier this year.
Black male athletes didn't fare well.
Of the top 10 least likeable sports personalities (No.1 being the least liked), the first six were African American. James ranked No.6, two spots above Ben Roethlisberger, who is serving a four-game suspension with the Pittsburgh Steelers for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.
Favre didn't make the top-10 cut of dislikeable sports personalities. He was No.8 among the top 10 most likeable personalities. The list of likeables had just two African Americans, Michael Jordan and Tim Duncan.
Kristi Yamaguchi was the only token female of either list, ranking as the sixth most liked sports personality.
Before you write this off as frivolous data, understand the Q scores company has provided its results to advertising agencies, marketing and public relations firms, television stations, etc since 1964. Companies pay thousands of dollars for this data.
Canon meant business when they paid tennis star Andre Agassi to say "image is everything" years ago.
And this study suggests that today's overall image of black athletes is overwhelmingly negative.
In fairness, half of the black athletes (Michael Vick, Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant) who scored high in dislikeability made egregious choices that influenced public opinion. The other half, which includes Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco and James left me scratching my head.........
