Release: 02/04/2009
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Twenty-five of the nation's top high school football players have signed to play at The Ohio State University, Coach Jim Tressel announced this afternoon.
"This class consists of young men who have been successful on the field and in school," says Tressel. "Nearly all of them were on a playoff team this fall, and overall, they bring close to a 3.0 GPA to Ohio State, a reflection of the work ethic they are developing to achieve those types of successes."
The class includes 14 players from Ohio,
three from Pennsylvania and Florida, two from Michigan and one from Maryland, Kentucky and Texas. There are 13 offensive (4 OL, 4 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 QB) and 12 defensive (4 DB, 4 LB, 2 DT, 2 DE) players.
"This is a large class in terms of numbers, and a well-balanced class between Ohio and out-of-state players," says recruiting coordinator John Peterson. "At Ohio State, we know you win with people, and these are young people who know what it takes to succeed."

GO BROWNS, TRIBE, BUCKEYES, CAVS, YSU, and yes I like ND plus GO NAVY, beat Army!!
It's so hard to go undefeated, only one major D-1A team has ever gone 14-0 in the history of the college football and win the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Jim Tressel and The OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY BUCKEYES!

Pretty impressive class. Tressel isn't skipping a beat, regardless of our stumbles in recent bowls/ National title games we are still getting talent.
Is it April yet???

Chris Spielman
There are Buckeyes, and then there is Chris Spielman. This is a man that needs no introduction; he embodies not only what it should mean to be a Buckeye, but what it should mean to be a football player and a man. Simply put, there cannot possibly be anyone out there who does not respect Chris Spielman. The man was born to play football as he rose from the storied Massillon Tigers to OSU to the NFL.

I heard on the way home last night that academics might be an issue with Chris Fields. If so, hit the books young man!

Class has been updated.
25 signed with the Buckeyes. 4 are already enrolled in classes. Here are how the 3 major recruiting sites rank them.
Scout: #1
Rivals: #3
ESPN: #9
Anyway you slice it, it is a good class and we get a lot of what we need. A lot of these kids will play right away as well. The only thing we didn't get that we marginally needed was a 3rd QB.
