Ohio State vs Bowling Green
Monday 11/24
8:00pm
@ Value City Arena
Should be a good game tonight. This should be a good marker of where this team is as of right now.

Nate,
Can these games be heard anywhere on the internet for free?
I used to listen to the BBall Bucks via the internet on 1460thefan (I think it was anyway) until they started charging for a season pass. Gotta draw the line somewhere ... oh for the good 'ol days when the internet was a noncommercial entity.
Hopefully, more games will be on the BigTen Network ... I don't mind paying a little to SEE the game.

I don't think so. I think the only place to listen via the internet is 1460thefan and they do charge now.
The Big Ten Network has been broadcasting basketball games for free online. Hopefully they do it tonight. It looks like they're still doing it so you might be able to watch the game from an online stream on bigtennetwork.com.

Props to the BTN and the online stream to the games. I was hoping for some way to catch the Bucks basketball games on for free. I'm already paying for the NBA League Pass to watch the Cavs games so it'll be a treat to catch the Cavs and the Buckeyes whenever I can.
Ohio State should put in a fair win, to contribute to the mighty start of Big Ten Basketball.

No need to check the website this time. Tonight's game will be televised on the Big Ten Network so that's good for those hopefully carrying the Big Ten Network on their digital cable or satellite provider.

Despite a good finish by the Bucks, I'd have to say their play was average at best. Not taking anything away from Bowling Green because they did everything right offensively, our defense on the 2nd half is what saved us from being edged by a Falcon comeback.
Ohio State needs work in their interior game, they were blocked out of the paint for most of the game by that 2-3 zone defense. It's nice to rely on Jon Diebler to rain in 3's from time to time but that strategy is not always going to work so we have to find a way to work inside and get easy inside shots or draw fouls while going to the paint. A point guard is best for that kind of direction, I would favor P.J. Hill, not to take anything away from Jeremie Simmons but I find Hill as a more effective floor general.
We also have to stop letting others take it to the hoop as well, which is why inside defense and boxing out helps. Dallas Lauderdale has improved a good deal from last year and B.J. Mullens shows he can also be a great asset in the paint. We're good but we can be better. Good scoring efforts from our veteran players in Diebler, Turner and Lighty.
Next up is Samford, and they should be a walk in a park for the team, as long as we play disciplined basketball.

Nice to see us win but it was closer than I thought it would be. Of course this team is again, young and raw.
Hopefully they'll get some continuity with some easier games coming up.
Good to see a win though.

I like Simmons play and skills over PJ Hill. Simmons can be an offensive threat and he handles the ball better than Hill.
What I liked most last night was the aggressive play of Lauderdale and Diebler taking the ball to the rack. Both bode well for us this year.

Simmons I'm not too knowledgeable about but since he is a more offensive minded point guard, I'll take your word for it Auto. I'm sure Thad Matta started him for a reason.
Lauderdale has definitely grown to be defensive beast, around the same level Othello Hunter was last season. We need his presence in the low post to secure our leads and stop the opponent's offense from heating up. I also like how Jon Diebler has developed a tenacity to go inside and go hard to the rack which adds a new element to his offense. He's definitely got good range in his J, but it also helps to not have to settle for the jumpshot. He'll be the great leading scorer he was back in High school in Upper Sandusky.
I also see big things coming from Evan Turner too. He's good enough to start a couple of games and he can also add a boost in offensive tempo coming from the bench.
We have a young team but as long as they can focus on the talents they have and utilize them, they're bound to make some noise in the Big Ten.
