From the Dispatch:

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2008/11/06/nwfb06.ART_ART_11-06-08_C5_84BQDEI.html?sid=101

This game is a little scary.  Coming off of a bye, which apparently we have not been very good at under JT (1-4), I hope we are ready to stop Kafka.  200+ yards rushing from a QB is impressive.

Auto

I am nervous as well. I mean we have been playing for field goals all yr. Whether it's the coaching, play calling , O-line, indescision by our QB's ............we cannot score TD's.

And until Tressel and company prove us otherwise , I expect a loss on Saturday.

Northwestern is scoring points .

There are Buckeyes, and then there is Chris Spielman.  This is a man that needs no introduction; he embodies not only what it should mean to be a Buckeye, but what it should mean to be a football player and a man.  Simply put, there cannot possibly be anyone out there who does not respect Chris Spielman.  The man was born to play football as he rose from the storied Massillon Tigers to OSU to the NFL.

And the Buckeyes take the field...it's party time!

It's bad enough that we lost 2 games to higher ranked teams this season. I'll be damned if we're gonna be in the recieving end of an upset.

Of course the offense needs to pick up the tempo, that's a given. As long as our defense holds up and stops Northwestern cold, we should be able to survive or even win with flying colors.

After all, Michigan State was highly touted before they came across the Buckeyes.  bb

I couldn't believe the point spread on the game (11.5 pts!).  At that rate, if NW scores 14 points we will have to score 26 to cover.  To score 26 points we will have to kick 8 field goals and a catch NW for a safety.   biggrin

This game worries me, especially if we sit back and play "contain the QB" like we did against Illinois last year.  As others have proven, the way to beat Juice Williams is to get pressure on him from everywhere.  I think that is the key to beating the spread - don't give the QB time to think or run.

Our D played well enough against PSU and should be able to do it against NW.  The bye week bothers me more than anything.  Hopefully, our offense has taken a step forward over the last two weeks.

Its not our players thats the problem its the coaches personality. The way to play defense is to get after people. Hit the quarterback in the mouth and keep hitting him in the mouth. Unit you put him out the game. But tressel plays to not loose rather than to win.

GO BROWNS, TRIBE, BUCKEYES, CAVS, YSU, and yes I like ND plus GO NAVY, beat Army!!

It's so hard to go undefeated, only one major D-1A team has ever gone 14-0 in the history of the college football and win the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Jim Tressel and The OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY BUCKEYES!

Just read at Dispatch.com that NW RB (Conteh?) who replaced Sutton will not play.  Conteh's replacement has 4 carries on the season.  The loss of Conteh should put a lot more pressure on NW's QB play (run or pass).  Now I am thinking our D may really shut NW's offense down.

Hope we can kick enough field goals to win.   biggrin
We may only need 2 or 3.

What I really hope is that TP throws the ball on first down about 50% of the time and completes about 60% of those passes.  If he does, I think we have the potential to score a few TDs too.  IMO, I don't care if we can beat NW running Beanie right, Beanie left and Beanie up the middle, we need to get better in the passing game and we need to start working on it in games this weekend.

When we play for field goals...........our chances of winning are very slim. And when we have had 2 home games where we didn't score a single TD , that is an indicator of something.

I don't care if it's Toledo, Miami (Ohio) , YSU.............or Northwestern...........we need TD's.
