College Football Playoff

Ok, I'll fix the problem. Here is my 2 cents and how President Dave is going to fix college football. No more bowls. I just don't see it working out in the Bracket format. You can't expect fan's to travel four weeks in a row and have them Fill up stadiums. Teams having home games will work much better and this should about guaranty Sell out games.
-16 Team Bracket. This will give Football 15 legit games, Should be enough games for the Sponsors. Every game counts so ratings would be through the roof.
-11 Conferences. Conference Champs get an automatic Bid. I like that everyone who wins their conference has a shot at a National Title. (College Basketball)
-5 At Large Bids. This is for teams like Notre Dame, and good teams that did not win their conferences (Georgia, Arizona State, Missouri, Kansas). This will be determined by highest Seeds that did not get an Automatic Bid.
-10 maybe 11 game Regular Season. 2 or 3 non Conference games and 7 to 8 Conference games.
-Seed teams through a Power Poll or Computer Ranking. I want to take the Polls out of human hands to avoid any fixing up match ups. For example jumping LSU over a bunch of teams that were a head of them the week before.
-Higher Seed gets the home game for the first 3 rounds. National Championship Game played at a Neutral Sight. Higher Seed is the Home Team.
-Playoffs start the first Friday and Saturday in December, with the National Championship Game taking place on January 1st. Last year would have given teams 10 days between the Semi Finals and the National Championship Game.

In my New System of College Playoffs here is what last years post season would have looked like using the BCS poll. Rewarding Confrence Champs and placing 5 At Large Bids to teams with the highest ranking that did not win their confrence. Seeds were given based on their BCS ranking.
Seeds Teams Conference
1 Ohio State Big Ten Champs
16 Florida Atlantic Sun Belt Champs
8 Kansas At Large
9 West Virginia Big East Champs
5 Georgia At Large
12 Florida At Large
4 Oklahoma Big 12 Champs
13 BYU Mount West Champs
3 Virginia Tech ACC Champs
14 Central Florida Conf USA Champs
6 Missouri At Large
11 Arizona State At Large
7 USC PAC 10 Champs
10 Hawaii WAC Champs
2 LSU SEC Champs
15 Central Michigan MAC Champs

:woowoo:
That would be unbelievable.
This rewards the teams with great season with more home games (or games in general) to generate more revenue. Of course they have to split it with the visiting team.
I like it!

In the State High School playoffs, team's are rewarded a home game but it is an OHSAA function and they get most of the gate. The Schools Athletic Department gets a share of the money, but most of it goes to OHSAA. This could and should be done in the College level as well. This would make up for the money lost with the bowl games.
How great would it be to see Florida or Georgia come up and Play Ohio State the third week in December. Or see an SEC school play out West against a USC. These games would be huge. The Texas/Ohio State match ups for example were Nationally big games that generated a lot of excitement. Now imagine that game being played in the second or third round of the playoffs.
People would say that a playoff would take away from the regular season. The whole point of the regular season is to win your Conference. The Playoff allow teams to stub their toe along the way. It is to hard to ask a team to go undefeated, even great teams lose every now and then, now they have no shot because they lost one game in October. I also think teams will not be so skeptical of playing another national power house. One lose will not keep them from winning a National Title. Face it, If we lose to USC this great buckeye team has little chance to play for the Title, which is a shame.
Also one last question. Under this playoff system would you go to Indiana, Michigan State or go to Central Michigan or Toledo where you have a better chance of making the playoffs. I think the Playoffs would help even out some recruiting.

I love the idea of the Almighty SEC having to play in the cold and snow/wind instead of the sunny south all the time.

it would make too much sense.........why would the NCAA agree to that for D-1A football??
And yes it would make the all high and mighty SEC play in cold weather...........the nerve........

Chris Spielman
There are Buckeyes, and then there is Chris Spielman. This is a man that needs no introduction; he embodies not only what it should mean to be a Buckeye, but what it should mean to be a football player and a man. Simply put, there cannot possibly be anyone out there who does not respect Chris Spielman. The man was born to play football as he rose from the storied Massillon Tigers to OSU to the NFL.
