Wrestling Buckeyes Finish 2nd in the National Championships

Ohio State earns National Runner Up in the NCAA Nationals Wrestling Tournament over the weekend.  Ohio State was second behind Iowa who won their 21st NCAA National Championship in Wrestling.

Ohio State and Iowa tied for the most individual Champions with Two.  J Jaggers 141(Redshirt Junior) became the first Buckeye National Champ since Tommy Rowlands in 2004.  Jaggers seeded 6th defeated #1 ranked Chad Mendes of Cal Poly 5-2.  Jaggers broke his ankle with 16 seconds left in the match, but held on and wrestled through the pain to win his first National Title.

Mike Pucillo #2 (Redshirt Sophomore) 184 won his first National Championship also defeating #1 ranked Jake Varner of Iowa State in double overtime.

J.D. Bergman #2 (senior) dropped a heartbreaker to Dustin Fox (Ohio Native) of Northwestern 4-2 in double overtime.  J.D. Bergman finishes his Buckeye Career as a 4X All-American.

The Buckeyes 149 pounder Lance Palmer (Sophomore) became a 2X All-American with an 8th Place finish at the National Tournament.

Congratulations to second year Head Coach Tom Ryan and the rest of the Buckeye wrestling team.  The Buckeyes are very young, I can’t wait until next season.

This is very good news and very impressive.  The program is on the up and up. 

Let's hope now that we can get that ungodly studly kid out of Graham in 2 years.
