I know the goal every year is to win the Big Ten and make the NCAA Tournament.  Things did not work out this year but maybe this is not all bad.  Ohio State is a young team, maybe the NIT will be good for Them.  When you have a young team you want to play as many games as possible.  NIT is not the big dance but it is still a big time tournament.  Making a run will be exciting and great for the chemistry of this Buckeye team, could really get things going for next year.

Ohio States NIT History

OHIO STATE 7 appearances  13-7 overall
1979 (fourth)    1980 NCAA Tourny 4th seed, Regional Semi's
1984                1985 NCAA Tourny 4th seed, Second Round
1986 (won)       1987 NCAA Tourny 9th Seed, Second Round
1988 (second)    NIT Tourny
1989                1990 NCAA Tourny 8th Seed, Second Round
1993                 No Tourny the next year
2003                 No Tourny the next year

It stinks we didn't make it but it will probably be good for this team.

I think we didn't get in because the Big 10 isn't getting very much respect.  The committee seemed to have a love fest with the PAC 10 and Big East this year.

They did not deserve the bid to the NCAA Tourney, but with a good coach like Matta they should develop and mature. Time will tell, but they have looked good so far.
