[!--quoteo--][div class=\'quotetop\']QUOTE[/div][div class=\'quotemain\'][!--quotec--]The Ohio State men’s basketball team further enhanced its skyline with its third commitment in less than three weeks from a player 6 feet 9 or taller.

Kyle Madsen, a 6-10, 228-pound forward from Dublin Coffman, said last night that he will transfer to OSU from Vanderbilt. He chose Ohio State over Dayton after visiting each campus earlier this week.

"It’s hard not to be a Buckeye," he said. "Both of my parents went there," as did two cousins who were studentathletes, baseball pitcher Mike Madsen and football receiver Darik Warnke.

Madsen redshirted as a freshman at Vanderbilt last season and will have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2007-08 season. Two other Ohio big men who will be freshmen that season, 7-1 Kosta Koufos of Canton GlenOak and 6-9 Dallas Lauderdale of Solon, also committed in the past three weeks.

Madsen adds another option at power forward, but it could be a crowded position when he becomes eligible. Koufos, Brayden Bell, Matt Terwilliger and junior-college transfer Othello Hunter could be competing for time at the spot.

"I saw that. I don’t worry about it," Madsen said. "I figure if I work hard, I’ll be able to help the team somehow. If I get on the court, great. They wouldn’t have offered me (a scholarship) if they didn’t think I could play." [/quote]

Thad keeps bulking up the inside with big men.  Think he was tired of being undersized last year???

Madsen should add some good depth.

The only thing that approaches the wonder of having 7-0 center Greg Oden on your team is having all these guys who wants to play with Oden join your team as well. Madesn transffering to OSU is awesome IMO. Also entering Ohio state this fall are top 30 prospects point guard Mike Conley(Odens HS teammate), shooting guard Daequan Cook and wing David Lighty. If Oden decides to become a sophomore, he'll get four more highly regarded preps as teammates. The OSU recruiting class for 2007 started with shooting guard Jon Diebler(Upper Sandusky), who committed to the Buckeyes last fall. Diebler excelled at the NBPA Top 100 camp and led Scout.com analyst Dave Telep to predict Diebler would be a 1,000 point scorer at Ohio State.

The Buckeyes have a total of 8 top 100 recruits in the past 2 years. Five are from Ohio. You can easily say Thad Matta is an exceptional recruiter, be even he would have to amit he has excellent timing.

Thad is a fabulous recruiter no doubt.  He's doing what Tressel does, getting the best Ohio talent and then pulling pieces from other states.
