I just saw a pre-season top 5 for the 06 season and thought I'd create a thread for all pre-season rankings, especially since the positioning of our Buckeyes will vary from outlets, writers and fans.

Here's CBS Sportsline's Dennis Dodd's top 5:

1. Ohio State
2. West Virginia
3. LSU
4. Oklahoma
5. USC

More will be placed in this thread as they appear.  Feel free to include your top 5 or just state your thoughts......

Not sure what publication I saw but it covered the big 10 only and had Ohio losing to Texas and Penn State but winning the big 10

Interesting Poll running on ESPN's main page. Lower Right Hand Corner...... 61,000+ votes and 45% say OSU wins the National Title....

Interesting.  People showing some love for Ohio State?  Am I in a different dimension?Huh?

Seems not many people are to worried about the new OSU defense.

This team will do a lot of growing up in Texas.  If we come out of there with a win it could really springboard this team for the rest of the year.

It looks like we're going to be preseason #1.  We'll have the target.  I just hope our guys can weather the early storm.  JT is a great coach and I have confidence that he can prepare them.

This defense is going to have to play well early and a lot of expectations are on them out of the blocks.

As much as I enjoy seeing the Buckeyes at the top of ANY ranking (any good one, that is), I have to wonder about the defense minus all the starters from last season.  No one, not even the MIGHTY BUCKEYES, can lose all those guys (especially the LBs) and maintain such a high level of performance.

However, I STILL think we go to Austin and win, because the Limphorns are a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT group WITHOUT Vince Young....... talented, of course, but NO WAY are they a top five team this season !!

Oh, and for the record, I FIRMLY believe the Mountaineers will be STRONGLY in the running for a BCS Bowl, if not the National Championship game (vs the Buckeyes, perhaps) !!!

When has Ohio State not had a good defense? Looks like a solid team again this year. Should be able to roll over Texas this year, just can't flip flop QB's. The rest of the tough games are at home, with the exception of Iowa - but I don't see that as a problem at this time.

Given the current news on Bomar, I think it would be safe to say that Oklahoma shouldn't be in the top ten

Well, we ended up #1 in the coaches poll.  I'm sure we'll be #1 in the AP as well.
