I just saw a pre-season top 5 for the 06 season and thought I'd create a thread for all pre-season rankings, especially since the positioning of our Buckeyes will vary from outlets, writers and fans.

Here's CBS Sportsline's Dennis Dodd's top 5:

1. Ohio State
2. West Virginia
3. LSU
4. Oklahoma
5. USC

More will be placed in this thread as they appear.  Feel free to include your top 5 or just state your thoughts......

I actually hope Ohio State will be #2 because we never do well with the #1. Oh well I don't think it'll matter much this year!

This years SUPRISE team: CALIFORNIA (look for them to be in the top 5)
I think WV will crumble this year.

Top five seems awfully high for a team that lost so much defense, but I'll take the optimisim!

Hopefully the hype behind the 'replacements' is for good reason.

Ivan Maisel of ESPN has ranked OSU #1 in his preseason poll.  Here is his top 10.

1. Ohio State
2. Oklahoma
3. West Virignia
4. Texas
5. Florida
6. USC
7. California
8. Notre Dame
9. Auburn
10. Iowa

Looks like there is a very real possibility that we will be ranked #1 in the opening poll. We are becoming the popular choice.

I'm not to enthused about being #1 although I'm hoping to be top 5.  Let's just hope Troy Smith doesn't get on the cover of SI.

Iowa at #10 is pretty generous, IMO, considering they lost a lot on an already questionable defense.  But they should have a good offense with another solid OL.

Everyone is talking about WV.  I'm not saying their not a good team but I think they creaped up on people last year.  They'll be targeted this season.

I don't know much about California but if they can beat USC they could make some noise.

Auburn is a well coached team with lots of young talent.  They deserve to be up there.
