Nate and anyone else that was at the YSU game or saw it on tBTN?

How did our running game look?  Coming into the season I thought the offensive line would be the strongest part of the team.  Did YSU load up the box and basically dare us to throw the ball?

The Wilson injury is just terrible for him.  I expected him to have a break out year.

Any other impressions from the game - positive or negative?

It sure is fun to live in Michigan this week.   biggrin

I feel bad for the Big 10 that UM lost, but the reaction from the UM fans is very entertaining to watch.   biggrin      The MSU fans are in heaven.

I intended to post a big post on my thoughts of the game but I had a busy weekend.

On the running game, the OLine needs some work.  Short yardage was horrible.  Beanie Wells either isn't reading his holes or has lost a step with the ankle injury.  He only had one good run and he couldn't muscle his way around in short yardage situations.  I would really be blaming the OL more but Saine seemed to run fine behind it.  You need to add almost an additional 25 yards and a TD to Saine stats because he had a big TD run called back for holding.

I am actually a little concerned and confused on Beanie's lack of production.  The OL wasn't playing great but Beanie looked bad.

We'll have to see what they on the ground at Akron.  I don't know how I'm going to watch that game unless I go to a friends house.  I don't get the B10NW.

Nate,

Thanks for your thoughts on the OL and Beanie.  Hopefully, Beanie will get it cranked up this week.  I still cannot believe that Pittman went pro - he would have our #1 and I have to believe that his draft position and situation would have turned out better than it did with NO.

I won't be watching the Akron game either for the same reason.

I don't like not being able to see the Bucks on TV every week, but I can remember a time when the only way to see the game was go to the game; the next best thing was the radio.  We had a lot of great games of pickup going in our side yard with the Buckeyes playing on the radio.

One of the benefits of having tBTN that I had not considered previously is the ability to watch reruns of the week's games.  I wonder if they rerun all of the B10 games or just the ones they carried live on tBTN.

Oh, BTW, with all of the insistence by tBTN that cable companies carry the channel on Basic Cable, did you know that it is not on DirectTV's basic tier?  A friend has Direct TV's basic tier at his lake cottage and we went up there thinking we would be able to see the UM-ASU & OSU-YSU games.  tBTN was not available on the basic tier.  Seems a bit ironic to me that DTV gets treated one way and the cable companies get treated another.  I guess the privelege of deciding what tier tBTN will be offered on comes with owning 49% of network.

I don't know about all the games getting replayed but they do replay all kinds.  I was just at lunch at Smokey Bones and they were replaying the Min. vs Bowling Green game.

That is totally hypocritical if the BTNW isn't available on DTVs basic teir.  But then again, DTV and BTNW are owned by the same holding company so take that for what it's worth.

I am a little surprised about Pittman as well.  To bad.  Hind sight is always 20/20 though.  I wish him the best and hope he latches on somewhere.

I just checked DTVs basic tier and the BTNW is on it's basic tier.  Just one channel.  The higher tier packages have the overflow games on multiple channels.   Maybe it was regional or something?

Back on topic:

As long as Beanie doesn't cough up the ball like ole' Lidell then he should be fine. What worries me is that we didn't get any kind of push from the O-line. Against Wisconsin, scUM or another Big Ten school, I would be so surprised but against Youngstown State??

How much "info" do you think Tressel throws back to his old school in order to "test" the Buckeyes?? I just wonder if he throws them a couple of bones in order to see how the Buckeyes will react.

That's a possibility but I don't know.  I see what you're saying about the running game, that's what concerned me.  The opponent being able to stop Wells like that wasn't right.

Running game looked bad again today except for the couple that Beanie busted off in the 3rd QTR. That's the Beanie we know.....just stiff arm them and knock them down.

Saine looks pretty good too considering his age and experience. If we get the line in order.....watch out.

I think Beanie's ankle is still bugging him.  Yes, the OLine isn't run blocking as well as it should.

Both of those are things that can be tweaked or healed.
